Art Gallery Support Assessment Summary One of the goals of Parkland College is to provide quality exhibitions and programming opportunities to our students, faculty, staff, and the community at large. While the square footage of the gallery is relatively small, Parkland Art Gallery reaches out beyond our walls and engages our multifaceted community in opportunities for information, education and appreciation of the arts. To accomplish an awareness of our activities and enhance our programming, collaboration with other areas at Parkland College including Community Education, Student Life, the Art and Design program, the Graphic Design program, and Institutional Advancement is essential. We have also fostered relationships with the University of Illinois, 40 North – Champaign County Arts Council, and other organizations throughout our district. In order to make our activities and resources available to our constituents, we make many efforts to be aware of what is successful and what needs improvement. Methods of assessment for the gallery include: tracking attendance of exhibitions and programming, evaluating our annual High School Art Seminar by receiving valuable feedback from participants, collecting data from our website through Google analytics, tracking our email listserv activities through Constant Contact, verbal feedback and written comments from visitors, evaluations from our Illinois Arts Council grant proposals, and input from the Parkland Art Gallery Advisory Board. Our most recent improvement of gallery operations involved changing our hours in 2012. Based on assessing our hourly attendance, input from key staff, and visitor feedback, the gallery is now open to the public during fall and spring Monday through Thursday from 10am to 7pm, Friday from 10am to 3pm, and Saturday from Noon to 2pm. Summer Hours are Monday through Thursday 10am to 7pm. Another change we have made in response to our assessment includes subscribing to Constant Contact, an online marketing service, to expand and improve our online advertising capabilities at a low cost. Both of these changes have been successful in making the Parkland Art Gallery more visible and accessible to our students and community.
