A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum
Prologus/Pseudolus Senex Hysterium
Sondheim's joyous, musical romp through Rome has desperate lovers, scheming neighbors and secrets behind every toga. A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum is a non-stop laughfest in which Pseudolus, a crafty slave, struggles to win the hand of a beautiful but slow-witted courtesan named Philia, for his young master, Hero, in exchange for freedom. The plot twists and turns with cases of mistaken identity, slamming doors, and a showgirl or two. gets confused with everyone else's.
The Time and Setting … Ancient Rome, in the street where Lycus, Senex & Erronious reside.
There will be a 20 minute interval between acts Refreshments (tea, coffee, soft drinks & alcoholic beverages) are available in the upstairs foyer.
Anyone who has lifted a paintbrush or screwdriver, climbed a ladder, assisted behind the scenes in any capacity to make A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM possible, I thank you. The loss we have felt with the passing of two beloved women during this production has drawn us closer together and made us appreciate our theatre family even more. It has been inspiring to feel such a strong bond. Now it's time, to relax and enjoy A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM. Bex Hutchins
Having a passion for directing, I am excited to present A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM for your pleasure tonight. My love for theatre extends beyond performing and I am honoured to have worked on this production, along with our talented and enthusiastic cast. They have been a great team to work with. I'm glad we can provide an environment in which both young and experienced actors can foster their talent, abilities and love of performing.
