As you are reminded by the attached flyer, there is a special collection at all of the Christmas Masses throughout the Archdiocese for the works of Catholic Charities. There will be two collections at both of the Vigil Masses as well as at the Christmas day Mass. Thanks in advance for your generous response! ADVENT - There is a link on the home page of the website for a daily Advent reflection from Bishop Robert Barron, Auxiliary Bishop of Los Angeles, and this reflection will change daily. Check out the website and use this resource. Special envelopes for Christmas Decorations are in your package for your convenience please place them in the regular collection! And thanks for helping our churches look beautiful during the Christmas Season! CHURCH DECORATING - will take place next weekend at both churches, following Mass - at St. Therese on Saturday, 12/19 and at St. Boniface on Sunday, 12/20. If you can lend a hand with the decorating, please plan on staying after Mass. Many hands will make this light work!!! Thanks for considering this request! YEAR OF MERCY - Please take a Year of Mercy prayer card home with you, and when you fill out your Year of Mercy commitment form, please return it to the regular collection basket. Thanks! LITURGICAL MINISTRY SCHEDULES - A new schedule for the first few months of 2016 will come out after the holidays. If you know of dates that you will be unavailable from January through April, please call the parish office, or e mail Misty at: [email protected]
or by phone: 913.908.5339
The “O Antiphons” used in the liturgy for the final week of Advent represent the verses of the ancient hymn, O Come, O Come Emmanuel. The first letter of the Latin messianic titles of Christ Emmanuel Rex Oriens Clavis Radix Adonai Sapientia spell out Ero Cras which translates to: Tomorrow, I will come! Come, Lord Jesus - Come!
Have a blessed week! Fr. Jerry CARMELITE STARS - Please take a look at the Thank You cards from the STARS that are posted on the Bulletin Boards at both churches. The parishes provided a dinner for them one evening while they were at the NCYC event in Indianapolis. The STARS are once again selling Burritos for a fundraiser for NCYC 2017, until January 13th, for delivery in late January or the first weekend in February. They have beef/cheese, beef/rice, or beef/black bean and are $9 for 1/2 dozen or $17.50 per dozen. Payment is due at the time of ordering. Please contact a STAR or one of the group leaders, Kristy Mader or Georgia Miller to order, or STARS will be selling at St. Therese on January 2nd and 9th, and at St. Boniface on January 3rd and 10th. Thanks for your support! HOME VISITS - I make home visits and bring Holy Communion to our homebound members on Wednesdays, following the Mass at Richmond Healthcare and my Communion calls at the Residential Care Center in Garnett. If you know of anyone who would like for me to stop and visit them on a regular basis or even an occasional visit, please let me know or have them call me. There will be a Mass at Golden Heights on Christmas Eve morning at 10 AM. All are welcome to join us for this celebration - please remember that there are NO Masses at either parish that morning. If you would like to participate in the Eucharist on the final day of Advent, please join us at Golden Heights! Let’s all keep our elderly, sick and homebound parishioners in our prayers!
