Things to remember: Parent conferences will be offered 10/4-10/6. Letters and sign up were sent home this week. Conferences are scheduled when request is returned. As part of the SC 20152016 Appropriations Bill, Proviso 1.A 7 was passed regarding the readiness assessment of prekindergarten students. All 4 year olds will be assessed with an online portfolio, Teaching Strategies GOLD, in the fall and spring of the school year. GOLD is an ongoing observational system that helps teachers observe children in the context of everyday experiences
Children are beginning to recognize their names when their name card is held up. Some students are naming the first letter of their name.
This week we read Counting in the City. and Ten Little Ladybugs We worked on counting while identifying numerals 1-10.
In math groups we:
1) Traced our name and drew a picture of a person using mat man,
objects on them and identified the numeral,
Teach Town: Our lesson this week focused on asking before interrupting the play of others. The parent letter and comic book are in the communication folder.
