Til Death do you part

(Paraphrased)

Author, Ilinda M. J. Reese unfolds her own personal story of abuse, candidly sharing her desperation and longing to find herself and solutions to a problem that was shielded with shame, embarrassment, and vulnerability. Ilinda documents statistics that state “over 74% of homicide victims are women killed by their mate”; men who will do anything and everything to stay in control and prevent their wife from leaving them and their home. Ilinda shares survival strategies and resources for women who want out for their own sanity and well being. She addresses the issue of how children are silent victims in this turbulent love triangle as well as pawns in the power struggle. She unfolds how abuse becomes a vicious cycle often with the woman unintentionally perpetuating the cycle through her fears, feelings of helplessness, poor self-esteem and lack of resources. Ilinda provides insight into how this cycle works and reveals truth about the perceived lies women embrace as victims.

Ultimately, every woman experiencing abuse, whether physical or emotional, has to make a critical decision. One which will shape her life forever. For these women, Ilinda acknowledges that there is hope… and a future.
