Shelters are generally unprepared to take them in due to language barriers, cultural and religious biases while the social accommodation that is offered by cities are openly discriminating against foreigners (i.e. Prague). Objective is to support foreigners in finding affordable accommodation in difficult times and to raise awareness about discrimination of foreigners in this issue. We will assist a foreigner who has problems with finding accommodation in difficult times and help them to insist on their rights. At the same time we will offer to shelters services of our social workers and intercultural assistants so they can in turn provide their services to foreigners in need. PPI would also start campaign to raise awareness about the problem. The target group of the project are foreigners living legally in CZ, Czech municipalities and shelters for people in need. 3710008

Stories of our neighbours
1 000 000 Kč
37 736 EUR
The exact definition and in particular the respect for human rights is strongly contingent on the political and social conditions in a given society. Many of the freedoms that are nowadays a common part of our lives were something the people of Czechoslovakia could only dream about just a few decades ago. The project is about bringing together young people and witnesses of historic events whose lives were marked by the denial of basic human rights. The pupils are meeting the witness regularly, work on the documentation of his/her story, discuss with them and reflect how the denial of basic HR influenced their lives. As the students become familiar with the personal touching stories of the witnesses, they realize that human rights are not to be taken for granted but have to be fought for persistently.
