Dear Parents/Carers, ‘Seaside Trip’ Year Two Thursday 9th June 2016

In our Creative Learning work this term we are learning about a contrasting locality – the seaside. As part of this topic the children will be visiting Weston-Super-Mare to help them learn more about what the landscape is like in a different part of England. They will get the opportunity to walk along the pier and sea front, learn and observe the landscape, picnic on the beach and build sandcastles. Please note that we will be leaving before the school day starts at 7.45am. All children will need to be in uniform and bring a packed lunch (no fizzy drinks or sweets please) in a plastic bag with their names on. They will also need sensible footwear for walking and a waterproof coat in case of rain. Children who receive free school meals will have a packed lunch provided for them. We aim to return at 5.30pm. We are aware that some parents may be anxious about this trip as it is a long journey and some distance away, but we would like to reassure you that this trip has been excellent in past years and the children gained hugely, both educationally and through personal enjoyment. They would not have been able to fully access the geographical understanding, enquiry and knowledge that our curriculum requires without this experience. In order to explain how we organise this trip and what we will be doing we are inviting parents to attend a ‘Weston Super Mare Information Meeting’ on Thursday 26th May at 2.30pm. In order that the trip can take place we ask for a contribution of £11.30 towards paying for the coach hire. The money can be paid in full as soon as possible via the online system ‘School Gateway’ by Friday June 3rd. Please complete the slips below and the additional Educational Visit Form attached; and then return both forms to your child’s class teacher as soon as possible. Without these forms the children will be unable to attend. Yours sincerely

Mrs R Gunn (Assistant Head and KS1 Standards Leader)
