bel ombre exteriors 5 star resort The design intent of this project was to provide a relaxed atmosphere, with eclectic rounded furniture and a calm ambiance, in the midst of a natural setting. None of the furniture has sharp edges, facilitating a stress-free vibe. A common element found throughout the hotel is a ceiling fan with natural oval palm leaf blades, to provide comfort from the relentless Seychelles heat. On entering the hotel’s main reception area, the scene is very tropical. Tub lounge chairs that are made of handcrafted Indonesian cane fabrizio round rattan, cass maple cylinder side tables and a rosewood trunk coffee table introduce the wood theme which guests become accustomed to. The reception desk stands in front of a glass tesserae mural. Adjacent to the reception the All Day Dining, is sunken from the lobby with a wonderful view of the clear blue waters Beau Vallon Bay.

unique holiday inn The lobby is illuminated by a starry chandelier and a light cream floor. Increasing the light in the lobby is the adjacent green yard that has an atrium that is partially covered by draperies allowing for soothing ambient light. There is a fireplace recessed into a vegetation wall in the same space, a theme that is carried through from the vestibule into the lobby. The pool is surrounded above by turquoise and light purple cove lighting around a stretched ceiling giving the space a funky ambiance.

The standard bathroom has white surfaces, but in the penthouse the surfaces are darker and the vanity is made from onyx. The darker hues continue in the penthouse in contrast to the standard units. The penthouse units are expansive, with sleek, modern furniture and built-in appliances.

“We wanted it to reflect the magic of Greenwich Village. Anyone who has wandered the streets of the Village knows exactly what I’m talking about—the tree-lined streets, the townhomes, the cafés.” - Developer Will Obeid

“Designers say the historical look of the new boutiques is warmer than the modernist form. “The problem with this minimalistic moment is that people like it only for a short time. People want places where they are at home,” says Andres Escobar, the Montreal-based designer of the “Prohibition-styled” Jade Hotel.” - The Wall Street Journal

REDISCOVER A LONG LOST GEM At first glance, one would assume that the Jade Hotel has been around for about 100 years, but this boutique hotel was built in 2013. The concept of the project was an embodiment, a relevancy to the neighborhood, with 1920’s Art Deco undertones. It was imperative that the design express the aura of an enduring Greenwich Village institution, conveying a homely style which would allow guests and Village residents to feel the familiarity and the intimacy of home.

38

Today and yesteryear, grace the walls of the lobby, as do restored mirrors which reflect the gleaming back-lit bronze columns. Once again, reinvigorating this idea of local history and home. Thas become a destination for hotel guests and neighborhood residents to experience the welcoming hospitality it has to offer.

The Jade Hotel, with its 113-guestrooms and speakeasy inspired Grape & Vine resto-bar, has become a noticeable, but understated example of a sensuous mix of nostalgia and modern luxury. Almost like rediscovering a long lost gem, The Jade Hotel has become a destination for hotel guests and neighborhood residents to experience the welcoming hospitality it has to offer.

creating volume The bold, singular, lavender backlit circular column is the memorable element of this hotel’s lobby. The inserts of the floor tiles and the designs on the ceiling above, radiate outwards to give the lobby feel more voluminous. Patrons of the adjacent bar can gaze into the lobby through a tinted glass to see when their date has arrived. The interior breakfast area is graced with a fireplace for warmth during those dark early hours in January, but has a bright, skylight breakfast room for those radiant July mornings.

5 Franklin Place

ABOUT franklin 5 Franklin Place will blend the personalities of Tribeca and Soho at one address. Residents access this 20 storey, 53-unit building from a courtyard facing Franklin Place, the cobble stone back alley for which the name of this project is derived. The building features tall two-storey windows that allow natural light to illuminate the lofty interiors of the units. The interior design concept was to maximize the amount of height in each space, particularly on the upper floors. Various types of lounge furniture are on the terrace, with a pool area that has the versatility to act as a setting for a family outing during the day, but still be used for a social mixer under the bright Manhattan night sky. 64
