8-DAY ITINER ARY MAINE
Day 1 PORTLAND
A quick five miles from the International airport in Portland, board your charter yacht at DiMillo’s Marina. After a meet and greet with your Captain and crew, motor out of the harbor to anchor for lunch. In the afternoon take the water toys for a closer look at the surrounding area, before heading to Harpswell, Orrs & Bailey Islands, where you will dock for the evening at Cook’s Lobster House and Marina. Kayaking is something not to be missed and a climb over the rocks of the giant staircase is fun for everyone.
Day 2 BATH & BOOTH BAY HARBOR (25 MILES)
With a scenic harbor including a working waterfront, rocky coastline, charming village shops and lighthouses, Boothbay is known as the boating capitol of New England. The protected rivers and inlets are great for kayaking and paddle boarding… be on the lookout for eagles, osprey, seals, and other critters as you paddle along. Boothbay is home to over a dozen stunning nature trails to explore, giving you the chance to stretch your legs during a morning walk. Another option is to take a scenic tender ride to the Bath Maritime Museum, an activity not to be missed. For lunch, make sure to swing by one of Maine’s most famous eateries, Red Eat’s, for a scrumptious lobster roll and fried clams.
Day 3 MOHEGAN ISLAND (12 MILES)
A small island (only 4.5 square miles!) with a year-round population of 75, Mohegan Island is known for it’s “simple, friendly way of life” in addition to its natural beauty. With 17 miles of trails leading over rocky ledges to some of the highest ocean cliffs on the Maine coast, it’s a hiker’s dream. The Black Duck Emporium, a general store near the center of town, carries a fantastic collection of incredible island art, crafts and, of course, soul-warming lattes. The local arts and crafts include charming fairy houses, carefully constructed, using nothing but stones, sticks and other local plant materials, such as lichens.
Day 4 CAMDEN (35 MILES)
In the morning, head towards Penobscot Bay along the outer islands, keeping an eye out for migrating whales. Cruise through the bustling Fox Island thoroughfare and take in the impressive display of scattered summer manors along the islands shore. Continue on to the dock at Camden, ideally situated along an upscale, yet cozy, waterfront, steeped in nautical tradition.
Day 5 BUTTER ISLAND & HOLBROCK ISLAND STATE PARK (20 MILES)
After a leisurely breakfast, motor towards Butter Island, owned by The Cabot family of Boston, which allows access to members and supporters of the Maine Trail Association to two beaches and the Montserrat trail.
