JAMES P. OWEN, WALL STREET VETERAN AND AUTHOR, TO SPEAK AT CENTER FOR AMERICAN VALUES. James P. Owen, author and 40 year veteran of Wall Street will appear at the Center for American Values on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. “Recapturing What America Once Stood For,” the theme from his Cowboy Values book, is the topic for Owen’s appearance at the Center’s “On Values” speaker series. Owen’s also authored Cowboy Ethics – What Wall Street Can Learn from the Code of the West and The Try – Reclaiming the American Dream. In his presentation, Jim Owen speaks from the heart about the relevance of Old West values — like honor, loyalty, and courage — to the challenges of 21st-century life. He shows why the cowboy is such an enduring American icon, and why “everybody needs a code to live by.” Owen’s Wall Street career included fifteen years as a partner with NWQ Investment Management Company in Los Angeles. He is co-founder and Chairman Emeritus of the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA). Profiled in the Wall Street Journal as a leading Wall Street “rainmaker,” Owen has been a prolific speaker and author on investment topics. His investment book credits include The Prudent Investor and The Prudent Investor’s Guide to Hedge Funds.

MISSION To honor the extreme sacrifices made to help sustain America’s values and to ensure these extraordinary actions are preserved ... forever

Sponsors for the Owen’s “On Values” appearance are Morgan Stanley Smith Barney and Colorado State University-Pueblo. There is no cost to attend, doors open at 2:30 p.m. and seating is limited. The Center for American Values, Inc. is located on the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk in Pueblo, Colorado at 101 South Main Street. The Center is a nonprofit non-political organization formed in 2010 for charitable and educational purposes. The Center’s founders identified the need for a national initiative to recognize and preserve the values on which our great country was founded.
