KOIN Center Achieves LEED Gold Certification!
After many years of making smart upgrades to optimize the building’s efficiency and creating green procedures and policies, KOIN Center is proud to announce we have achieved LEED® Gold certification under the LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance (LEED-EB: O&M) Rating system. KOIN Center earned points toward the LEED certification for water and energy efficiency and improvements, indoor environmental quality upgrades, green cleaning policies, and our thorough purchasing and recycling program, among other things. We couldn’t have done it without the help of our tenant community. Thank you for your cooperation throughout the process. In the coming weeks, you will see our official LEED plaques throughout the building and we will provide information on how your individual space can pursue LEED for Commercial Interiors (LEED-CI) certification with reduced cost and effort.
LEED® Green Building Rating System™ The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) green building certification system is the preeminent program for rating the design, construction and operation of green buildings. 35,000 projects are currently participating in the LEED system, comprising over 4.5 billion square feet of construction space in all 50 states and 91 countries. By using less energy, LEED-certified buildings save money for families, businesses and taxpayers; reduce greenhouse gas emissions; and contribute to a healthier environment for residents, workers and the larger community.
