Life In The Mission Field! The new year of 2017 has begun with dreams and hope in the grace of God. My family and I have been in Cambodia for 20 years as missionaries. How quickly time has flown by...it seems like just yesterday that we picked up our lives and left everyone we knew to follow the Lord’s calling into the mission field. I will never forget the words of a senior missionary I met in Singapore who said to me “Go to the mission field and build a life there….Go to Cambodia and live well with your family there.” We have been living in this place for 20 years and have lived well by the grace of God. The people of Cambodia are simple and pure at heart. We are truly grateful that God has allowed us to live here with these precious people for the past 20 years. Starting out lives here required much faith as

we faced issues with our children’s education and many other trails and difficulties. Each step we had to take in faith fully trusting in Christ and often leaning on the support of our new Cambodian neighbors to help us settle down and start over during such a difficult transition. Our new life here began with the relationships we developed with our new neighbors. We have made lasting friendships and through that have made many disciples in Christ. There have been both days of deep joy in Christ and days of deep heartbreak. But through it all the Lord has truly watched over us and used the people here to help us adapt. As I reflect on our days here I am faced with the question “how did you love your neighbor as yourself in this place?” When I look back I realize that my family and I, who came here to love our neighbors, have in fact received much more love from them here in the mis-

I would like to thank the Lord and our neighbors; especially our local staff, professors, over 2,000 student and pastors, supporting churches, personal supporters, my sending church in Singapore and its members, and co-missionaries for their continuing love and support. What is life like in the mission field? Just like life in any part of the world. There are moments of laugh-

struggling in constant hardship and tribulations. Although this environment is poor and different from where we came, it is a life of sharing in sorrow and happiness together with out neighbors. I pray that we will continue to live well with our neighbors as we live out our calling here on the mission field in bringing glory to God expanding his kingdom here on earth.
