City School District of Albany

Celebrating the important role of parents in student achievement Michelle Washington Albany High School Michelle has been actively involved with the City School District of Albany for many years as a parent, a parent member of the Special Education Committee, as a mentor and motivational speaker for students, and as a member of the Strategic Planning action team that studied high school restructuring. She talks with students about the importance of education, life skills and self-worth. An author and founder/president of the United Front Youth Organization Inc., she is an active community advocate, focusing her efforts on youth and families. “I believe that the City School District of Albany has much to offer our children, such as choices in education, advancement and opportunities to excel. The opportunities are there if our children choose to take advantage of them. I believe that having an education is one of the most important tools that one can achieve toward their success. Parent involvement is critical in partnering with the schools to ensure the success of all students.”
