Towns Town of Nelson - Tate’s History of Pickens County, p. 245: Nelson was incorporated by the legislature in 1891. The extreme southern part of the town lies in Cherokee County, and the 1930 census showed ninety of the 798 inhabitants of Nelson as living in Cherokee County. Talking Rock - Tate’s History of Pickens County, p. 245: Talking Rock is situated on the creek of the same name, in the upper part of the county. Being on the Old Federal Road, it was one of the earliest settlements in this region, and some of the earliest churches and schools in Pickens were at or near the present site of the town. - more data.



Tax Digests Notes According to clerks at the Pickens County Courthouse, some old tax records are locked in the "evidence" room at the courthouse, and others are locked in the old jail complex. Dates for these are not known.
