June 17, 2010 Haneda Airport Adopts IPRM Solution for Management of GSE Vehicles- Operation to Start in Third Quarter of 2010. KINDAI SEKKEI CONSULTANT’s "Area Manager" system that is built on Autodesk AutoCAD Map 3D and based on the IPRM concept, will contribute to GSE planning, maintenance and operation at Haneda Airport, Japan. TOKYO, June 17, 2010-- KINDAI SEKKEI CONSULTANT, INC. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President: Yoshihisa SHIMADA) and Autodesk (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, President: Morio KIZAWA) announced that Area Manager has been adopted for Ground Support Equipment (GSE) location information and parking management at Haneda Airport and is scheduled to begin being utilized in the third quarter of 2010. Area Manager is built on Autodesk AutoCAD Map 3D, a GIS/CAD infrastructure oriented software. In October of this year Haneda Airport expects passenger numbers to further increase with the official opening of runway D, which is currently under construction. As such, the need for airport operations to manage GSE smoothly, accurately and with a high level of safety will also increase. The Area Manager system can depict dynamic parking information for GSE within the constantly changing airport grounds with high visibility, thus preventing human error by operating quickly with sharp and accurate judgment. Area Manager has become highly regarded as helping to realize the safe and reliable operation of airlines. Area Manager is already being used at Kansai International Airport and in southern Japan at Miyazaki, Kagoshima and Kita-Kyushu airports. It is a geographic information system (GIS) that merges CAD drawings with databases to support the spatial analyses and work flows and reports that are necessary for the planning, simulation, and verification of GSE arrangement. The system supports precision safety operations and can also rapidly issue approval certificates for GSE usage in restricted areas. Additional functions such as: real-time monitoring with GPS, vehicle status, prevention of unauthorized access to restricted areas, cruising speed warnings, and SMS (Safety Management System) may be added to the system according to the needs of each airport. AutoCAD Map 3D- used by Area Manager- is one of the IPRM concept solutions. The IPRM: Infrastructure Planning & Records Management concept calls for computerizing the planning, execution, and maintenance of public works and infrastructure improvement projects. It also calls for the streamlining of operations and improvement of construction quality by offering direct access to infrastructure planning, research, and maintenance-related data. Implementation of Area Manager by the Haneda Airport is one example of putting the IPRM concept into practice. Autodesk will continue to develop other products that aim to promote the IPRM concept.
