LEWIS-CLARK SADDLE CLUB, INC ROYALTY RULES AND APPLICATION Rules are out of the Lewis-Clark Saddle Club handbook Updated in accordance to club meetings Section 5. With the approval of the Board of Directors and the royalty director, the President may select at least two impartial, qualified persons to judge the candidates on regular club participation, their "try-outs" in horsemanship and the interview following the riding. a) Participation. Candidates will be judged on their participation in regular club activities throughout the year. b) Riding will be judged in the following categories: 1. Quality of riding (correct leads, posture, etc). 2. Performance (control, ability in backing, stopping, reversing etc). 3. Horse and rider combination (appearance of both, compatibility-leading, mounting, dismounting). Any ties in scoring will be decided by contestants exchanging horses and repeating numbers 1 through 3 above. c) Interview will be judged in the following categories: 1. Poise 2. Presentation of answers 3. Answers Section 6. Royalty candidates must have been a member in good standing for at least one year prior to try-outs. Royalty applications/forms must be turned into the club no later than the last play night in August of that current year. Royalty try outs will be held as early as possible in September of that year. The royalty court will consist of ONE queen and ONE princess to represent the club each year. The royalty court’s equine animals must be current on all necessary vaccinations and a copy of such needs to be on file with the saddle club and accompany them on all trips. Please review and pay attention to what is required when traveling between states, as different states have different requirements.

Section 7. Forfeiting a Title. Royalty titles may be taken away if the following occurs: a) Royalty uses alcohol or illegal drugs. b) Royalty uses profane language or displays inappropriate conduct. c) Royalty abuses any horse (including drawing blood from excessive spurring or jerking on the bit in anger). d) Without a valid or authorized excuse, any member of the royalty court failing to represent the club at any club sponsored activity or failing to represent the club during introduction of visiting royalty when visiting another saddle club or rodeo association, shall be considered in default. The Board of Directors shall consider such default sufficient reason for replacement. This replacement may be from one of the last eliminated royalty candidates. All royalty attire, tack or incidentals purchased with royalty funds will be required to be returned to the saddle club in the event of a title being forfeited; either by the means mentioned above or by choice of the royalty member. Section 8. The royalty chaperone must be a member in good standing and approved by the Board of Directors. The chaperone will be under the direction of the Board. Any unresolved situations between chaperone, royalty court and/or parents shall be taken to the Board for resolution. Section 9. Following is a list of required (but not limited to) events for the club royalty. a) Asotin County Fair, Parade and Rodeo. b) All Lewis-Clark Saddle Club events and meetings, clean up days, etc. This may exclude winter events like Team Penning do to conflicts like sports and school activities. The chaperone or Board should be notified if these events can't be attended. c) Lewiston Roundup parade and rodeo. d) Any other outside events such as local lighted Christmas parades, local parades and rodeos and omoksee's, etc. that are attended will be greatly appreciated by the club.
