SafeguardingOnline Growing in Leaps and Bounds: 100,000 Users Congratulations to our SafeguardingOnline community on reaching a huge milestone! More than 100,000 users have taken more than 500,000 SafeguardingOnline modules as of August 2017. These numbers make it very clear that more and more people understand the importance of training volunteers and employees to recognize signs of the sexual abuse of children, and to put policies and procedures in place to prevent it. Adults and children alike benefit from the knowledge that SafeguardingOnline provides. “We’re thrilled that so many dioceses have joined the SafeguardingOnline program. The leadership at the diocesan level has emphasized the importance of training. That emphasis has filtered to churches and schools. Preventing sexual abuse is so important, and it’s a community effort,” says B.J. Coghan, Safeguarding Program Manager for the Church Pension Group (CPG).

Modules added The SafeguardingOnline program strives to provide relevant, useful modules that meet the needs of today’s Episcopal church organization and continually expands the available courses. “We are always considering and working on new modules to add to the SafeguardingOnline program,” says B.J. The most recent modules include: • • • • •

Preventing Sexual Activity between Young Children Preventing Bullying Safety Equation Series: Administrative Practices Social Media Safety Mandated Reporting

Safety Equation Training is just one of many steps an organization can take to prevent sexual abuse. Praesidium, Inc., the company with which CPG collaborated to develop Safeguarding God’s Children, has also established a Safety Equation series that considers other ways in which organizations can work to provide a safe environment for all. You can learn more about the Safety Equation here.

Thank you and congratulations! Congratulations on your efforts to keep children safe, and keep up the good work! For more information about Praesidium and SafeguardingOnline, contact B.J. [email protected]
