The University can trace its roots back as early as 1890 and today is proud to be one of the leading modern universities. Since 1999, the flagship campus has been based in the grounds of the Old Royal Naval College - the centre piece of the Maritime Greenwich UNESCO World Heritage Site. The University occupies parts of three of the four Royal Courts which make for a stunning setting against the banks of the River Thames opposite the Docklands and Canary Wharf. Greenwich, a borough steeped in history, is the place where east meets west on the Meridian Line. The town is bustling with great atmosphere fostered by its markets, comedy clubs, pubs, clubs and restaurants. The famous Cutty Sark, currently under restoration, has been preserved in drydock here since 1954. Additionally, Greenwich is home to one of London’s finest Royal Parks, the National Maritime Museum, the 17th Century Royal Observatory, and the newly opened Peter Harrison Planetarium and Astronomy Centre.

Campus Information The campus benefits from the great 17th century architectural buildings of the Old Royal Naval College which it offers annually to the London Open House architectural festival. Centred on three magnificent buildings designed by Sir Christopher Wren and one by James "Athenian" Stuart, the campus boasts some of London’s finest Grade 1 listed buildings, housing amongst them, the Old Royal Naval College Chapel and the spectacular Painted Hall. From elegant meeting rooms through to lecture theatres with a capacity of up to 229 people, a multitude of seminar rooms and exhibition areas, the campus offers year-round facilities for conferences, corporate and private hospitality, all within close proximity to the public transport and road networks. Adjacent to the campus, the University can provide ensuite accommodation, either modern conversions or complete new build projects offering the area a high volume standard bedroom solution.

Room Hire The University offers year-round facilities for conferences, meetings, and hospitality, as well as spacious offsite accommodation during the summer vacation. We have a wide range of lecture theatres ranging in capacity from 90 to 229, all equipped with data projector, networked desktop computer with internet connection, DVD/Video player, PA System with radio microphone (where required), and adjustable lighting options. Circulation space is also available for refreshment breaks between sessions. Building

Accommodation The Maritime Greenwich Campus offers three close and convenient accommodation options. Two - Cutty Sark Hall and Devonport House - are immediately adjacent to the campus, with the third – McMillan Student Village – sited within a 10-15 minute walk of the campus. Accommodation is arranged in shared flats of between five and eight bedrooms, sharing a kitchen and communal living area. Each bedroom contains a mini-fridge and standard bedroom furnishings. Residents have access to the 24 hour onsite laundrette facilities. Cutty Sark Hall offers 231 single bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities. The hall forms part of a mixed development in the heart of Greenwich, above the DLR rail station and among the bars and shops that are only a few minutes' walk from the Maritime Greenwich campus. Devonport House is a modern conversion of an historic building. It offers 124 single bedrooms with en-suite facilities. Sited next door to the National Maritime Museum, residents are within easy walking distance of the campus, as well as shops, restaurants, bars and other attractions. Both the DLR and mainline train station are close by, and a number of bus routes run beside the hall. McMillan Student Village is a new development approximately 10-15 minutes' walk from the Maritime Greenwich campus consisting of 970 bedrooms in total. The Village offers a range of different types of accommodation – from single bedrooms with en-suite facilities in shared flats to self-contained studio apartments for one or two individuals, each with its own kitchenette. Bed linen and one towel is included in the cost of all accommodation. Breakfast is not included but can be provided on request on the main campus. Rate/per night + VAT Cutty Sark Hall/Devonport House £41.00 McMillan Student Village £31.50

Map and Directions The Maritime Greenwich campus is positioned right in the centre of Greenwich alongside the River Thames. As such, it has excellent public transport links with buses stopping right outside, and national rail stations within easy walking distance. However, Greenwich often suffers from traffic congestion and car parks can get very busy. The campus itself has no parking available for large numbers of delegates.

By Docklands Light Railway The DLR operates in East London and down to Lewisham in South-East London via Cutty Sark station. This makes it particularly convenient for Greenwich campus and is just two minutes walk from the campus West Gate. Direct services run from Bank, Canary Wharf, Lewisham and Stratford and easy connections are available from Tower Gateway, Beckton and London City Airport.

By road From the M25, exit at Junction 2 onto the A2 towards London. The distance is then approximately 15 miles. The A2 will merge into the northbound A102 (from East London, join the A102 via the southbound Blackwall Tunnel). Before reaching the Blackwall Tunnel, exit the A102 via the slip road for the A206 Trafalgar Road and follow the signposts for Greenwich. Continue into Greenwich along this road for approximately one mile and shortly after the BP garage, turn right at the traffic lights into Park Row. The campus is on the left through East Gate. There is also a public carpark on the right hand side of Park Row.

Additionally, in January 2009, the DLR network expanded to Woolwich Arsenal station, providing fast links to Europe via London City Airport, as well as direct train links further into Kent.

Full directions by road can be downloaded from AA Route Planner by using the postcode SE10 9LS.

By London Underground (Tube) The London Underground tube network is not close enough to walk from and will require transfer onto other public transport. The best option is to get off at Canary Wharf (Jubilee Line) and get a DLR Lewisham bound train to Cutty Sark. Alternatively you could get off at North Greenwich (Jubilee Line) and take a 188 bus to the campus.

By train Southeastern Trains provide direct services from London Charing Cross, Cannon Street, Waterloo East & London Bridge to Greenwich or Maze Hill Station on Dartford/ Gillingham via the Woolwich Arsenal line. Journey time is 12 minutes from London Bridge. The campus is in Zone 2. Please note that prepay Oystercards are not valid on Southeastern Trains and a separate ticket must be purchased from the ticket office before travel.

By bus The following buses stop directly outside the campus: 129, 177, 180, 188, 199, 286, 386. You can download a bus route map for the Greenwich area here.

Directions by public transport can be found via the Journey Planner on the Transport for London website.
