Top ten romantic restaurants in Mallorca Travelling around the island over the last five years we have been able to try out many Mallorca Restaurants and have come up with the following list of restaurants that would make the ‘romantic list’ The first restaurant that comes to mind is Jardin restaurant in the Port of Alcudia. This restaurant is a must in summer as they have a garden that is tastefully done out with alcoves strategically placed between the lushes green vegetation. You have large round tables with linen down to the floor. The colour scheme outside is white and green offset nicely with coloured candles on the table. The waiting staff have been very well trained and will offer you two standard menus which you can alter should you not find anything suitable. There is an excellent range of wines from the wine list to choose from to accompany your meal. Do not come too early as in summer the sun is up until quite late and you would want the romantic atmosphere to kick in soon after you arrive. A young couple, a brother and sister team run the restaurant and both have had experience in Michelin star restaurants around the world. So the standard of food, wine, and service on offer will match Michelin star quality without the Michelin star price. The second romantic restaurant on our list is the restaurant in the village of Valldemossa at the rural petit hotel of Valldemossa Hotel. The restaurant has stunning views over the valley stretching as far as Palma, however the main part of the restaurant looks over the valley towards the town of Valldemossa and the catuja monastery where Chopin once stayed when he was here with George Sand. This restaurant is part of the five star hotel Valldemossa and comes with five star service and great food. Lots of candles all over the terrace provide for a very romantic atmosphere. El Gazebo is in the mountains of Puigpunyent with great views of the valley from the terrace. It is housed in the five star petit hotel of Sonnet and is only open in the summer. The best time to go is the barbeque nights as it is festive and you can ask for a table away from the other clients to make it more private. Canatoneta restaurant is in the secluded back streets of the village Caimari. Once inside you will see that there is a terrace facing out over the village with a view of the plains below. Maria and Teresa use their own produce from their own garden for the ingredients in their dishes. All very personal and homemade. Senzone restaurant is in the five star hotel Maricel in Cas Catala near Illetas and Bendinat. It is right on the coast with it’s on pier and has a striking view over the bay. If you want a romantic breakfast, this is the place to go to. They were recently the winner of the World best Breakfast award
Jens restaurant is in the famous village of Camp de Mar near the Port of Andratx. There is a lovely garden terrace where Manuela will look after your needs while Jens in the kitchen turns out the great meals. Sa Punta restaurant in Port Verd near Cala Bona is right on a peninsula jutting out into the bay. A secluded spot along the coastline with the Martin brothers in the kitchen. The restaurant is part owned by the family of famous Tennis champion Rafal Nadal. You may even find him sitting at the table next to you as he claims this to be his favourite restaurant. Sant Joan restaurant in Calvia offers a very different type of cusine. Martin who is Norwegian and Vanessa have recently taken over this restaurant and have kept the romantic charm of the place. You will find many popular dishes that have remained on their menu for years which include Scandinavian, Caribbean and Asian cuisine. Villa Italia restaurant overlooks the Port of Andratx. Set quite high up for a great view, Christain in the kitchen will surprise you with his creative dishes while you can enjoy the surrounding. Once again the place is best once the sun has gone down. Satic restaurant in the Port of Soller has a romantic terrace high up on the fifth floor of a frontline hotel. Anna and Oscar have worked hard over the years to create a wonderful atmosphere on the rooftop. The lights at night and the passing boats in the harbor have a very romantic charm about them. El Olivo restaurant must be one of the finest places we have ever had a meal. The ambience, service , food and wine come highly recommended. The wine list has won the Wine Spectators award for seven years in a row and we are sure you will find the right wine to accompany your meal. Lots of candles burning away in every corner of the restaurant Ben dvall restaurant offers one of the finest views over the ocean. Quite high up and the views extend along the mountainous side of the island facing out towards France. People often say to us that they are surprised that this restaurant does not have a Michelin star. The food and service certainly is up to the standard and the terrace only helps to complete the romantic experience. We must say that we can think of at least another ten romantic restaurants in Mallorca that fit the ‘romantic’ list. We will have to put together another article one day to describe the rest of the romantic Mallorca restaurants.
